We grew up in Berlin-Neukölln and have a deep love for our city – especially Neukölln, our neighborhood. With over 160 nationalities, Neukölln is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Germany. In such a densely populated place, you need a mode of transportation that’s flexible, fast, and accessible to everyone. For us, the answer was clear: the bicycle... eco-friendly, healthy, and practical.

The idea sparked when we thought back to the bikes we rode as kids. That’s when the first flame was lit, and soon after, our vision took shape: we wanted to build our own bicycles! We started simply, sketching out ideas on graph paper, followed by countless technical drawings. It was a real challenge to design everything ourselves, but our desire for independence kept us going. Today, we work with professional design software, and our concepts have come a long way.

Once we had a clear picture of what our bike should be, we began searching for the right suppliers. It was fascinating to see how global the bicycle production industry is. For us, it was non-negotiable: quality, aesthetics, and sustainability had to be at the forefront. So we tested, tweaked, and improved continuously – until our first prototype was finally born. After endless hours of work and investment, we were close to our goal. But then, COVID hit, and like many others, we faced significant delays. It was a challenging time, but we didn’t give up.

Today, we build our bicycles in Neukölln with one clear goal: to create bikes that not only look great but are built to the highest standards. Our philosophy is simple - a damn good-looking, high-quality bike with complete transparency in terms of material sourcing, production, and sales. You have the right to know exactly what you're getting. We openly share where every part comes from and, more importantly, why we chose it. No exceptions.

One question we often hear is: “Why do you only build steel frames?” The short answer: “Because we want to!” But of course, there’s more to it. Claiming that steel is the only logical or "correct" material for building bikes would be wrong. There are amazing aluminium and carbon bikes that deliver on quality, function, and aesthetics. But for us, steel is the better choice because it fits our concept best – both in terms of ride quality and environmental impact. Steel offers us outstanding features: it’s durable, robust, and 100% recyclable. Beyond material choice, sustainability is a top priority for us, not only in our manufacturing processes but also in the selection of every bike component.

There are undoubtedly millions of opinions on the best material for bike building, and ultimately, it’s a personal decision. If you’d like to dive deeper into the topic, we recommend a fantastic article by Georg Blaschke, a frame builder and owner of GEBLA in Geldersheim. On his website, he provides a balanced, objective and detailed comparison of different frame materials. It’s an excellent read.

Our journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has made us stronger. We’re now proud to handcraft bicycles in Berlin that are as diverse and vibrant as our neighborhood. We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Feel free to write to us, give us a call, or stop by. We welcome feedback and suggestions, and of course, we always appreciate a compliment!

Our Logo: a Hommage

Our logo is inspired by the first bicycle, or more precisely a running bicycle. The name used by the inventor Karl von Drais was “Draisine” or “running machine” and was introduced in 1817 and patented in 1818. In the French patent it was called “vélocipède” and in English “Dandy-Horse”.

After that, it took a little over 40 years before the draisine was modified for more practical purposes - pedal cranks were added to the front wheel, plus a few other developments. From here you can get an idea of how things got to where they are today. Our logo is a tribute to this revolutionary step in the history of mobility.
